Our downtown Washington DC wedding locations offers a variety of elegant spaces to perfectly fit your every needs. Choose from multiple locations, ranging from breathtaking ballrooms perfect for dinner and dancing, to elegant but more intimate salons ideal for rehearsal dinners and bridal luncheons. No matter what event you choose to book with us at Hyatt Regency Washington, you can rest assured that your guests will enjoy the best experience possible for your Washington DC wedding.

The Thornton Room
Named for one of the original architects who designed the US Capitol, this magnificent, salon with its floor to ceiling windows provides an upscale view of the capitol lawn and beyond. Located on the 11th floor, the rich decor of warm colors and luxurious finishes sets the tone for an elegant gathering. Guests enter through a rotunda of marble and granite flooring, walls of chocolate colored leather and a specially designed chandelier. Woolen carpets woven in England, stained walnut woodwork and champagne colored wall coverings provide a beautiful setting for any wedding reception.

The Thornton Room is ideal for wedding ceremonies, rehearsal dinners and intimate receptions. Choose this unique setting to add a refined touch to a ceremony for 60 or a dinner for up to 96 guests.

For a cocktail reception with passed hors d’oeuvres the Thornton Room is suitable for 240 guests.

Lobby Level
Situated on the lobby level, you’ll find a convenient this collection of additional DC wedding locations which can easily be configuresd to meet multiple needs. Choose any or all of these rooms for easy access to our Atrium Lobby and Article One Restaurant and Lounge.

  • Capitol Room —, With itsthe custom made chandeliers and dark wood paneling, the Capitol Room  lends an upscale, welcoming feel to this beautiful space. Perfect for a sit-down  reception for 12060 guests and a dance floor to dance the night away. This flexible space can also be divided into two  smaller rooms.
  • Congressional Rooms — Choose Congressional A & B to host a reception and dinner for up to 180 guests. The smaller Congressional C & D rooms adequately accommodate a bridal luncheon or brunch for a wedding party of 30.


Ballroom Level With a myriad of rooms and set-ups available, this space is sure to offer just what you need for a large or small Washington DC wedding location.
  • Regency Ballroom — Utilize this expansive room, combining all four ballroom areas, when you need to accommodate up to 1,000,500 for a big boisterous wedding celebration or for a sophisticated dinner for 450 in Regency A. Add in the Regency Foyer for even more space or for a pre-wedding reception area, perfect for place cards or a gift table before entering the Regency Ballroom for dinner and dancing. Looking for a wedding ceremony location? Regency BCD can accommodate an intimate or extravagant ceremony.
  • Columbia Ballroom — Comprised of three rooms and a foyer, this junior ballroom conveniently arranges to host a wedding celebration ranging in size from 360 to 240300. Columbia A & B are perfectly configured to accommodate  a sit-down dinner and dance floor for 250, with Columbia C set with soft seating and a cocktail bar for a relaxing side lounge area with the perfect spot for a photo booth.
